It’s likely the digital compass in your device is experiencing interference and needs to be reset. First, make sure you are away from large metal objects or objects that can produce strong magnetic fields. Then, hold the device in front of you and swing the device in a figure 8 motion. Repeat this until the objects in the view appear to be in the correct location. For best results, always reset the compass as described above, when you open SkyView. Even car keys and loose change in your pocket can cause the compass to be inaccurate.

For being so small, the digital compass inside your device is very accurate; however, it is not perfect. Even small magnetic fields in your immediate area can cause the view to be off slightly. If the view isn’t perfect, trying using SkyView in a different area.

SkyView Free is a limited version of SkyView that is intended to give the user a great app for free. SkyView Free gives the user a small subset stars, only 15 popular constellations, just two satellites (ISS and Hubble), the Sun and the Moon, and a few fun facts about each of these objects. Even though SkyView Free is limited when compared to SkyView, we feel that we have provided users a really great "free" app. This way, everyone can get excited about exploring the sky even if they can't afford the upgrade price.

On the other hand, SkyView (the paid version) gives you all 88 constellations, tons more stars and galaxies, all the planets (including Pluto!), all the brightest satellites, and many more fun facts about each of these objects.

If you decide you want more objects and facts you can easily upgrade to the paid version in the app by opening up the Settings view (the little wrench in the upper-left) and then tap on the top row that says "Upgrade to Premium", then tap on the bottom button that says "Get Premium". This will bring you to the App Store where you can quickly purchase the full version of the app. Note that buying the full version will install a completely separate app on your device, so after this is done you can safely delete "SkyView Free" from your home screen and then run "SkyView" from there on out.
